Limousine Blues is Jan James' fifth album, and she's in prime position to shed her Southern Rock Rep. She and producer/songwriting partner Craig Calvert have come up with strong contemporary blues with a soulful edge -- the only cover is "Chain of Fools" and nothing here would sound out of place on Dusty in Memphis. The disc sounds super whether the material is front-porch acoustic, cocktail-lounge swing, stop-time shuffle, or sultry pop. James delivery is powerful, clear, unmannered and witty.
